I loved these: The Shadow of the Wind (couldn’t put it down; grabbed a pot of tea and read until I finished); The Liar’s Club (read, laughed, felt like crying — jostled some good memories and made me glad I didn’t have others); Tales of a Female Nomad (yes! liked/appreciated this book more than the famous Eat, Pray, Love; much less self-centered and more other-directed). Happy reading!
If only I had all day to sit and read. What a delight and a joy. I’ve enjoyed my quick peek at your blog. Thanks for stopping in.
This is a great idea. I know I’m late in the year, but I think I’ll start this, too. Thanks!
Best of luck! Let me know how you do. As you can see I’m moving a bit too slowly.
May I suggest Eat Pray Love? Very well written book – I loved it! =]
Hi,
I read it last year! Good book, but I fear that movie won’t be true to the story; probably fun but…..
Now, this is a memoir you really will want to check out: Frederick Exley’s “A Fan’s Notes.” It is a very funny, insightful and poignant story about a guy who identified himself more with being a fan than being the star player but ultimately wrote an amazing book.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve heard of it, but never taken a look. Thanks!!
And, thanks for coming by.
I have been trying to work through some of these through audio books as I have limited time this year to read as much as I would like. I have been enjoying the US release of Stieg Larsson’s books.
Of the books on your list, what was your favorite?
~jb
I’m not sure how to answer that one! I love the Goodwin books, a great mystery is fun and his are intelligent.
Water For Elephants was better than I expected and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love Vergese and would recommend all of his works, though it seems heavier for an audio book.
Shadow of The Wind was a good read and I think he has a new one out!
What are you listening to right now?
